We deliver numerous events for a variety of audiences throughout the year. See which ones you can get involved in via this page.

An online Maths Circle is a one hour long live workshop for children aged 7-14 and their family, taking place on Zoom. Prior to the virtual event, a selection of Maths problems are sent out to participants. During the virtual event participants are able to listen to Maths Circle hosts explaining how to solve the problems, share and discuss their ideas with others.

To facilitate interaction and better tailor the activities, our online Maths Circle is split into two slots:

- First slot, aimed at 7-11 years old- Monday 30th March from 6:00pm to 7:00pm

- Second slot, aimed at 11-14 years old- Tuesday 31st March from 6:00pm to 7:00pm

You are welcome to attend either of the slots, or both, according to your preference and the age of the children. The event is free to attend, but booking is required. The booking links for both slots can be found below.

Like every year, we will take part in the Edinburgh Science Festival. This year our researchers will guide visitors through the world of fluids.

Drop in and discover how the same fluid can behave wildly differently at different scales. Try hands-on demos that reveal the science behind our swirly, turbulent ocean and atmosphere—and see how Earth’s rotation helps drive currents and storms. Then dive into the microscopic world, where water feels as sticky as honey to tiny creatures. Find out why simple flapping won’t move a bacterium but will move a fish. A fast, fun introduction to the strange, scale-dependent rules of fluid flow—perfect for curious minds of all ages.

This is a FREE drop-in session and no booking is required. It is part of a larger event by the University of Edinburgh, for which further information can be found through the link below.

Our Maths Circle is a drop-in session for children aged 5 to 16 and their families to engage with fun and stimulating mathematical problems and puzzles. The event is FREE but booking is required. A link to the booking page will be published on this web page in the first two weeks of April.
