Benefits There are many benefits to becoming an external supervisor for our students. It's a great opportunity to research questions and problems that you do not currently have resources or funding available to support You can start to develop a relationship with the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh Our talented and enthusiastic students will bring fresh perspectives and ideas into your organisation Many companies in the past have used this as a very successful recruitment tool Financial Contribution We do not ask for a financial contribution to the project but we do expect that you can dedicate your time for supervison and provide data as required. Image Time Commitment The individual projects will run for 12 weeks and the consultancy projects for 5 weeks, and take place during the summer (June - August). We begin looking for project proposals in January. January: Information session for companies takes place. February: Information session for students. March: Project topics are submitted. April: Students select their preferences. May: Students are matched to projects and supervisors. Students have the opportunity to meet with staff from the company. June - August: The project is underway. September: The dissertation is submitted and marked.
