Our consultancy service acts as an interface between our clients and the considerable expertise in mathematical statistics and operational research at the University of Edinburgh’s School of Mathematics and Centre for Statistics. Consultants Our consultancy unit offers the opportunity for the School to engage with interesting projects with external partners. Our team are flexible and available to support activity across a range of projects, varying in scale and length. The team currently includes dedicated resource with particular expertise in statistics and operational research. Academic consultancy In addition to the dedicated resource in our consultancy unit, all of our academic staff are available to act as consultants on projects. PhD internships Students can take industry placements during their PhD for projects with a duration of 3-6 months. These are typically paid placements with the organisation, which are completed during an interruption of studies. This means that during this time, the student is an employee of the company rather than a student with us. Internships and work placements are promoted to students as they arise.
