The Teaching Awards give students the opportunity to thank staff for their hard work, whilst celebrating the very best of teaching and support at the University. Jonathan Hickman has been shortlisted for 'Outstanding Course' in the Edinburgh University Students' Association Teaching Awards 2026.Students nominated Jonathan's 'Introduction to Mathematical Analysis' as one of the best courses in the College of Science and Engineering, alongside 'Applied Ecology and Evolution' by Luke McNally (School of Biological Sciences), 'Catchment Water Resources' by Neil Stuart (School of GeoSciences), and 'Frontiers in Chemical Engineering 2' by Francisco García-García (School of Engineering).The winners will be announced on 22 April, during the Teaching Awards Ceremony in Teviot. Students have submitted more than 30,000 nominations to the Teaching Awards over the years, showcasing how much of a pivotal role staff play in shaping student experience at the University. This year, the award categories include Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Course, Support Staff of the Year, Supervisor of the Year, Student Adviser of the Year and more.
