IAA AIMday Digital Frontiers Seed Funding success

The School is involved in three collaborative projects following the Digital Frontiers AIMday held earlier this year.

Miguel Anjos, Merve Bodur and Grégoire Clarte have all received seed funding from the University's Impact Acceleration Account (IAA).

  • A Review of Existing Stock Demand and Availability Forecasting Models

Miguel Anjos, in collaboration with Julien Sindt in EPCC, is working with the logistics company Leidos UK to explore existing gold standards for modelling and predicting stock flows.

  • Advanced Schedule Optimisation for Dynamic Resource Management

Merve Bodur is working in partnership with the resource management software company Retain International to develop mathematical models to solve complex staff scheduling challenges.

Merve says, "Our goal is to create a more efficient, fair, and flexible system that not only increases productivity and reduces costs, but also supports employee well-being by balancing workloads and considering staff preferences".

  • Mapping Retrofit Motivations Through Discrete Choice Experiments

Grégoire Clarte, in collaboration with Dan van der Horst in the School of GeoSciences, is working with the energy startup Snugg.

Understanding how changes in a home's energy efficiency impacts its price is crucial to incite the general public to commit to environmentally-friendly housing.

Grégoire says, "In this project, we use an innovative 'gamified' poll to test how potential buyers value the energetic features of a house".
