Health Data Hackathon with Public Health Scotland

Yesterday we hosted a one-day Health Data Hackathon in collaboration with Public Health Scotland, bringing together students from the School of Mathematics and the Medical School.

Students worked with published public health data to tackle real-world challenges set by Public Health Scotland (PHS), analysing datasets and presenting their findings to PHS professionals and academics from both Schools.

It was inspiring to see interdisciplinary teams combining analytical, statistical, and clinical perspectives to address issues that matter for NHS Scotland.

Throughout the day, students contributed their skills, learned new approaches, and most importantly, had fun applying data science to real public health problems. Huge congratulations to our two winning teams and a big thank you to everyone who took part and supported the event.

With participants from different disciplines, this was a day full of learning, collaboration, and impact and we cannot wait to do it again!
