Research Students' Conference in Population Genomics 2024 Conference information The field of population genomics is one of the fastest growing areas of interdisciplinary research. It is the culmination of the developing relationship between big data, mathematics and biological understanding. The Research Students' Conference in Population Genomics 2023 intends to address every facet of this emerging field through interdisciplinary collaboration. There is much recognition that the field of population genomics is multidisciplinary, and that many research groups are sparsely distributed throughout the UK. The organisers aim to bring research students working in a range of genomic and health related fields together for a three-day conference which will look at the themes: evolutionary networks, causal effect estimation and pathogen genetics. The conference will be a formal and structured setting for postgraduate researchers, in which research can be discussed without the pressure of large number of late-stage career researchers being present. Conference schedule Wednesday 26 June 12:30 - 13:30: Registration and Welcome 13:30 - 14:30: Evolutionary Networks Pt.1 [2 Student Talks] 14:30 - 15:00: Afternoon Break [1 Student Talk] 15:30 - 16:30: Dr Garrett Hellenthal - Evolutionary Networks 16:30 - 17:00: Break and Poster Setup 17:30 - 19:00: Poster Session Thursday 27 June 10:00 - 11:00: Causal Effect Estimation Pt.1 [2 Student Talks] 11:00 - 11:30: Morning Break 11:30 - 12:00: Causal Effect Estimation Pt.2 [1 Student Talk] 12:00 - 13:00: Prof Heather Cordell – Causal Effect Estimation 13:00 - 14:00: Networking Lunch 14:00 - 15:00: Dr Christopher Foley – Optima Partners 15:00 - 15:30: Afternoon Break 15:30 - 16:30: Careers Panel 16:30 - 18:30: Break (No Organised Activity) 18:30 - 22:30: Conference Dinner Friday 28 June 10:00 - 11:00: Pathogen Genetics Pt.1 [2 Student Talks] 11:00 - 11:30: Morning Break 11:30 - 12:00: Pathogen Genetics Pt.2 [1 Student Talk] 12:00 - 13:00:Dr Samantha Lycett – Pathogen Genetics 13:00 - 13:30: Lunch 13:30: Departures Jun 26 2024 00.00 - Jun 28 2024 23.59 Research Students' Conference in Population Genomics 2024 Conference organised by and for postgraduate student researchers working in the field of population genomics Bayes, Centre, University of Edinburgh, Potterrow.
