The Undergraduate Edinburgh Operational Research Challenge is an annual event organised by the School that is open to undergraduate students across the UK with an interest in OR. The challenge involves students acting as consultants to derive a data-driven optimization strategy for a real-world problem posed by an external company or organization. This year the challenge was run in partnership with Public Health Scotland, who proposed a strategic resource allocation problem to determine how to best serve public medical emergencies. We had students participating from across the UK, including from institutions including the University of Warwick, London School of Economics, Imperial College London and our own University of Edinburgh.
