Miguel will serve as Vice President from 1 November 2026 until ISI World Statistics Congress 2029. Professor Miguel de Carvalho, Chair of Statistical Data Science, has been selected to replace Matthew Shearing as Vice President of the International Statistical Institute (ISI). Miguel will serve as ISI Vice President for the rest of Matthew’s term, until World Statistics Congress 2029. Miguel was selected by the ISI Executive Committee, who recognised the value of his knowledge and network in data science and AI.Miguel says, “I am honoured to help strengthen our global statistical community and shape the future of statistical science in the age of AI”.
