Equality, diversity and inclusion

Our School is dedicated to valuing and celebrating diversity, and ensuring equality of opportunity for all staff, students, and visitors. We are committed to creating a community which is inclusive and respectful of all our staff and students, and their lived experiences.

What do we mean by EDI?

Equality means assuring that all groups of individuals are treated fairly and equally, with no favourability, specific to their needs. Diversity means recognising and valuing people's differences, and inclusivity means promoting a culture which respects these differences and allows everyone to realise their full potential.

If you have any suggestions regarding Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in the School of Mathematics, please fill in the suggestions form. 

Please note all responses are completely anonymous, and will be reviewed at the EDI committee meetings.


Report + Support

Report + Support is a platform that gives students, staff and visitors a simple and informal way to raise concerns about bullying, harassment or discrimination.

If you or someone you know has experienced or witnessed any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination or gender-based violence, you can submit a 'named report' to get support or anonymously to help improve out University culture.


Policies and Strategies

The School of Mathematics' Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and Action Plan outlines a cohesive School-wide approach to promoting diversity and creating an inclusive environment for all students and staff. This works in conjunction with University-wide EDI policies and Strategy.

Initiatives, networks and facilities

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee run many events and is working on many ongoing projects and initiatives to help foster a more inclusive community within the School.

EDI Committee

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee supports and monitors EDI in the School, and works to implement the Strategy and Action Plan developed with this aim in mind.
