Jan Sbierski awarded EMS Sir Edmund Whittaker Prize

The Edinburgh Mathematical Society Sir Edmund Whittaker Memorial Prize 2025 has been awarded to Royal Society University Research Fellow Dr Jan Sbierski.

The prize was established in 1956 by the family of the renowned mathematician, physicist, and historian of science, Sir Edmund Whittaker (1873-1956), who was the Professor of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh from 1911 to 1946. 

It is awarded to outstanding early-career mathematicians with a connection to Scotland who have published work of particular merit.

The accolade recognises Jan’s outstanding achievements in mathematical physics.
